Arif is a Postdoc research fellow in the EEGL with interest in the carbonation of Mg-rich clay minerals and ultramafic mine tailings. His current research project focuses on understanding the carbonation potential of ultramafic mine tailings and monitoring changes in physical and chemical properties of tailings during heap leaching.
In Arif’s PhD at University College Dublin he quantified the impact of clay minerals on the flow behavior of turbidity currents and their role in carbon burial. Arif has industry experience in carbonating and imaging silicate mineral powders.
Arif has expertise in QEMSCAN, XRF, XRD, field sedimentology and silicate diagenesis. Arif can be contacted at the email address below.
