Kidus joined the EEGL in May 2023 as a research assistant during his HBSc in Geology, which he completed in June 2025. His research focuses on assessing the carbonation efficiency of brucite [Mg(OH)2] and portlandite
[Ca(OH)2] through synthesis, aqueous carbonation and calcination experiments, as part of a wider Mg-Ca looping system.
